It is written and directed by S. Shankar. It is co-written by B. Jeyamohan. It

is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, founder of Lyca Productions. It is the

sequel of Robo i.e. Enthiran in Tamil which is released in 2010.

The film will feature Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu

Pandey, Adil Hussain, Riyaz Khan and many others. The film will have

simultaneous release in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The budget estimated is 4

British actress Amy Jackson signed on to work on the film in October 2015

and visited Los Angeles as a part of the team pre-production work. In late

November 2015, Rajinikanth also travelled to Los Angeles to meet the

film producers and complete costume trials and initial motion capture

technology work for the venture. The team held talks with Hollywood

actor Arnold Schwarzenegger for the role, who agreed to work on the film

for a record remuneration. After further negotiations with actors

including Hrithik Roshan and Neil NIthin Mukesh, the makers signed

on Akshay Kumar to portray the role in which Schwarzenegger was initially

considered. Sudhanshu Pandey joined the cast of the film during March

2016 and revealed that he would portray a scientist, who is the son of

Professor Bohra from the original film. Adil Hussain began working on the

film in July 2016, and as a part of his role undertook extensive research

into the life of news reporters.

An official launch event was about to held on 12 December 2015,

coinciding with Rajinikanth& birthday, but the team chose to avoid publicity

as a result of the 2015 South Indian Floods. Instead, the team held a low

key launch event at the AVM Studios on 7 December with the director and

the producers in attendance. Titled 2.0, the film consequently began its first

schedule with shooting held on 16 December 2015.

A.R. Rahman is slated to compose the music of the film. While the

soundtrack will include at least five songs, only one song will be played in

the film.

It was just June 12 that Rajinikanth fans went gaga over the rocking album

of ‘Kabali’ but seems like the surprise and rage is not over. Director

Shankar shared and post on twitter and with exciting news attached to it.

Shankar posted a new picture of him along with Rajinikanth from the sets of

dashing as ever.

is launched on November 20, 2016. The first look launch is one of its kind

as the looks of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar will be launched in 3D by

Lyca Productions.
